Hey, design enthusiasts! Amandork checking in for the Week 2 update of the One Room Challenge. 🌟
Last week, I spilled the beans on my kitchen makeover journey, and guess what? 💡
The design magic is brewing, thanks to the awesome community of interior design peers I get to coach and guide through our nifty group chat. 🚨
Coaching these INCREDIBLE women on their interior businesses and branding is beyond rewarding. 💰

Diana not only navigates the design world with finesse but also happens to be my student in all things eDesign through my bootcamp. 💪
We're DIVING DEEP into her niche, shaping a robust business foundation, and I'm stoked to be handling her branding and website soon. 💥
But here's the kicker – she's generously volunteering her epic skills to help me wrangle my CHAOTIC kitchen into a design wonderland for the 2024 Spring ORC project.🍾
Here's the sketch elevation of the ivy wall. Right now there are 4 Ikea shelves 1' deep 2' wide. Width of the wall is 91", from floor to ceiling 95" almost 8'. From the top of the countertop to the ceiling is 61"
The appliances (which we can totally get a smaller TV, microwave or toaster to fit the design) so that's flexible very easy to buy those.🔧
TV: 31" W x 22" H
Micro: 22"W x 12"H x 17"D
Toaster: 7"W x 14.5" D
These are a bit long and wide and the TV is a bit big so we are happy to replace these to be smaller to help with maximizing storage🧰
Here is a sketch of the alcove where we can potentially put a hutch or top part of a media center. Some kinda of storage can fit here.💥
This part that's sketched out is potential area for a bookcase or pantry. It can come out to 12-15" MAX, 8' tall and 52" W. Right now it's a plant and shoe holder but those can be moved.
Cue the virtual APPLAUSE for Diana once more! She took my wild kitchen ideas, threw them into Chief Architect, and the results? Mind-blowing. 🤯
We had voice note convos, discussing the vibes, and I'm already feeling the purple, black, and white WONDERLAND taking shape.🎉
Now, before you see the fantastic concepts Diana came up with, let me spill some design tea. 🛠
Brainstorming with her FORCED me to get my act together and create a mood board. ⭐️
Yes, it KICKED me off my comfy seat and into the kitchen with a measuring tape in hand. 🎊
I'm not a fan of space planning, but with iCovia, a handy floor planner tool from my eDesign days, I got all those measurements neatly sorted. 🤘
It's a LOVE-HATE relationship with space planning, but the design community is always there to lend a hand.⚡️
With a sketchy floor plan and scribbled notes in tow, I handed them over to Diana. 🎸
She wowed me with some initial concepts that were a tad too dark, given my purple-black-white vision.🔥
It became clear – we needed to SOFTEN things up. Cue the mood board, a visual representation of the vibe I craved. 😜
Diana's revised concepts hit the SWEET SPOT and gave me all the feels.🦖
Storage concerns were still lingering, so Diana, being the genius she is, incorporated fresh ideas that blew me away. 👽
We chatted about the alcove, downsizing appliances for the NEW storage, and I'm buzzing with excitement to see these ideas come to life. 😲
With a Pinterest mood board and precise measurements, we're ready for the next design leap.😍
Yet, something's MISSING, and that brings us to Week 3 – back to the drawing board. 💜
